    Your opinion: Firestone Winterforce

Is anyone running these for the winter season?

I've been reading the reviews and many customers are happy. These are pretty darn cheap compared to the other tires available. Now I'm not cheap or anything, but if these tires are almost outperforming more expensive tires I don't see why I should shell out more money!

I'd also like to mention that you can get 4.3% cash back from Fatwallet if you use their referrer link to tirerack.com

Anyways, what do you guys think about these tires?!

i have the firestones. awesome in snow, though they have super soft sidewalls. highway driving can be a little scary, lol.

Just bought a set of General Tire Altimax Arctic in 185/70/14 for $46 each... total delivered was $233 including tax and shipping for four ($58.25 per). waiting on my wintercaps from jakeb and then gonna get em mounted up and i'll be ready for the thick stuff! :D

will report back on performance in snow, highway, etc.

haha dude, i used to ride on 195/60 14 blizzaks and they were just as scary, on the highway the steering response was pretty shitty :)

I had these on my '03 VW GTI. You'll definitely notice the softer sidewall and squirmier tread blocks, and a little bit of tread vibration. But overall, I was fairly happy with these, and they wore well.

They got me through a solid Michigan winter, and my VW felt much more sure-footed in the snow and ice. Certainly a difference in dry between 15" Winterforces, and the 17" Michelin all-seasons that were stock on my VW -- but by no means did I find them to be "scary" on the highway.

One reason why i chose the Generals was the more-stable-looking tread pattern with the near-continuous center tread area.... Made in Germany where they know a few things about high-speed stability...
