how big is too big for a respectable e30?

i have an alpine white e30 4 door 1991 318i. im building it up; m50 swap ect. already got a fresh paint joint, clean interior.

my question is what size rims i should get. my ideal size is really 16x8, but those are hard as hell to fine. im looking at some 17x8 konig 6 dual spoke rims for dirt cheap. but who thinks they will just look wrong on a respectable e30? im so torn. the rims are a really good deal but im just kinda against 17's. but they are 17x8 which would give me awsome grip; no more burnouts, better jumps, better handling, better everything.

btw my car isnt just for show. i basically have another dd. might start taking it to the track every so often. i want it to stay aggressive.

    what do you guys think?

I really like my 17's aka the ones I am selling. But if your going to buy wheels get some nice ones that arnt cheap because they will most likey look like it.

16" will good good on any e30. 17" take a lot more aggressive drop/body kit to pull off. Few, e30 non-M's look good in 18"(Eric Luka's car being one exception)

They are but you need to roll the shit out of your fenders or they will rub on everything and cut up your tires.

for 17s, the closest to stock outer rolling diameter you can get is 225/40/17 or 215/40/17. I personally think its more a matter of style of the wheel than the size. Also, the larger the wheel, the higher the car will look, and might look funny. for instance, a 16" wheel will make the car appear to sit lower than a 17" wheel.

In general 17 is as big as you want to go. There are some 18's that look great but there aren't many. That being said I'm sitting on style 127's, 18" reps as I didn't feel the need for 19's...

i track e36 DS1's on my e30. 7.5" wide on 235/35 RA1's. when those tires go i'll see about going wider as i realized that i'll never turn my steering to full lock. Street: I run 225/35 front (street/drift events) from 225/60-16 to 255/45-17's i've burnt all sizes possible and not recommended. my street tires are 225/45-17.

i wouldn't go 18". it'll look dorky if you're not lowered and if you are you'll run into rubbing problems and if you have less than an s50 your car will be a turtle.
                    No more e30s for me.
