    Best way to refinish wheels?

Everyone always asks "what process was used when refinishing the wheels?"

What's the correct answer? I've searched and seen people using metal filler to cover curbage and ect - but most people call a light buff, prime and paint refinishing.

Say I had a set of 1 piece BBS with a nice lip. What would be the best way to restore and polish the lip, remove curbage, and respray the centers?

Am I better off paying $120 a wheel for refinishing?

That's cool for the curbage - bt say I want to repaint the centers ans polish the lips. Do I just scuff and spray?

PS - I'm very weary of putting spot putty on my BBS wheels.

Granted these were bottlecaps, but I used aircraft stripper and a powerwasher to get all of the remaining factory paint off, scuffed the surface, and primed, painted, and clearcoated the wheels. I don't really know how to get the pitting out, if you have any. Another option would be media blasting, which would get more of the finish off.

will aircraft stripper harm an already polished lip should some get on it?

I wouldn't think so. It will strip any clearcoat off, though.

aircraft stripper is iffy guys, its gonna be a bitch to clean out of the weaves. I would get the centers at least sandblasted, then paint em up whatever color you want with a top coat of clear. The lips Im not so sure on.

Yeah, I didn't think about the weaves. Media blasting isn't too expensive, so you should probably do that. I wouldn't sandblast them, because that can cause waves in teh surface of the metal as well as pit the surface if there are any metal imperfections.
