    info on junkyard wheels

I found a set of mercedes wheels at a junkyard today.

    the car was marked as:

    the car looked like this:

i know we can get a 5x112 adapter, but what i need to figure out is the offset of these wheels. Also, are they steel or aluminum? The junkyard charges more for aluminum wheels.

put a magnet up to them and if it sticks they're steel. That's an easy way to see.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

offsets are usually stamped on the back of the wheel, but this wheels looks rather low offset. Adapters are usually a minimum of 20mm thick. and adding 20mm to this wheel looks like it will be near 0 and thus end up sticking out a bit...

omg, those are AMG Pentas! Find my post in this thread: http://r3vlimited.com/board/showthre...=125541&page=2
The offset should be ET11. Are they 15" or 16"? How much are they asking for them?''

          EDIT: Oh, and they're alloys

Close to the same as the OP's wheels but these are not the same.

They could be copies. OP: Check the wheel for an "ATS" stamp. That would tell you that it's real. If they are copies, they're probably not worth more than $50/wheel to an MB enthusiast.

                  Ronal R9

Those are Ronal R9's, one of the best looking and most popular wheels evar made.
Mounted on an old skool SEC , must have been a baller car back in the day.

Yes the adapters needed to make them work would most definitely induce a bit of "poke" .....you'd really have to unbolt one and look for the offset or at least measure the backspacing to figure how much they'd stick out .

I went back to the junkyard today to check them out. They are real Ronals and the offset is et11.

I bought the set for $91. I figured something would happen to them if I only bought two for the rears like I was planning at first.

I am going to buy the adapters and see how they fit. If I like them, I might get fender flares if I need them. If I buy a complete set of adapters that are 20mm's thick, will the rims be even from front to back?

I also found two other types of mercedes wheels that I might go back for, since I will have the adapters.

The car I took them from looked just like this one:

I almost bought that wheel. I found it in the yard also, but there was only one. It was stamped Ronal on one of the spokes, and it was chrome.

You will seriosly have to cut your fenders and quarter panels if you plan on running those with an adapter spacer.
With that size and offset they will be sticking out big time.

i'm ok with the idea of fender flares, but i didn't realize that they are going to cost $275.

                          i'm still trying to decide.

Since you paid so little for them, you can most likely sell them at a profit. Try posting a feeler thread on benzworld to see how much you could get. Unless you're determined to make them fit, which I would love to see.

EDIT: have you looked into E46 flares?: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...ght=e46+flares

                              thanks for the link!

i do want to try them to make them fit. i am much more comfortable with bolting on the plastic fenders myself versus welding on metal fenders. the e46 flares do look good though.

i am trying to buy a pair of adapters now so i can check the fitment. if i don't like them, i'll sell them.

at least i saved them from the junkyard!
