    Shelf life of tires?

My '88 325 is in need of tires. While calling around yesterday, I spoke to a tire place that had a set of Michelins in their warehouse that they got 3 years ago but were manufactured 8 years ago according to the dot serial number. He said he'd give me a great deal on them but no warranty. According to Michelins website, they say that the tires should be replaced after 10 years barring any defects/excessive wear. However they won't warranty them either past 6 years of manufacter date. Being on a tight budget I'm considering buying but am concerned about safety. Any opinions welcome.

    Thanks,

    JR

As long as they were stored properly, they should be fine.

Go and take a look at them before you decide.
