    AC Compressor and line swap

    Has anyone swapped in a compressor (M20 or M42) on a M40?
If so did you use the serp belt from the same model and did it mate fine with the crank pully?

My Touring already has AC (thankfully), but the lines were cut from compressor portion in/out. The 'in' tube is costly and has to get pulled from overseas.

Why does it have to be from overseas? It's not hard to have them made...which would be better

In theory the M42 compressor should fit, but I'd compare part numbers to see what you can dig up, as I've assumed about the M40/42 crossovers and been wrong before.

crash n burn is correct, having a line made is simple, and may even turn out to be economical.

I was reading about the DIY for the power steering res (creating your own for the feed to the rack from res). I never considered re-crimping the tubing. Are you aware of any resources specifically for this? (I plan to Google foo)

I believe the local pick-n-pull has 318 so I will check out the compressor / plumbing. Thanks for your advice!
