picked up the 5er a couple weeks ago. Replaced all door seals, trunk struts, put in a new fan, replaced door handle gaskets, oil change. was gonna do belts when i did the fan, but found out that all 3 of my tension adjusters have their teeth stripped arg. so now i'm waiting on parts to arrive.

              Nope.

Clutch helper spring let loose, somehow. Didn't see any cracks. It flew down and sheared off the master cylinder feed nipple. I barely had any clutch, and was loosing fluid. MC is only 1.5 years old. Thought it went bad, but nope. All the fluid was pouring straight from the reservoir into the carpet.

Got a reinforcement kit for the pedal bracket.

What sucks is I'm going to have to pull the MC anyways to fix it. -_-

I had a pinhole leak at the Coolant expansion tank when under pressure. Thought it might just be a bad spot in the hose. So I went to remove the hose and trim it, and the hose nipple crumbled into my hand. So I "McGuyver'd" a new hose fitting till my replacement tank showed up.

Fixed the MC, installed the reinforcement kit, and discovered the over center spring guide rod is bent. So, I flipped it so the bend was facing in towards the brake pedal. PITA job, and I had to have the car today as the Rover blew a brake pipe. There's some air in the system, going to have to get under there and bleed it soon, but clutch it back.

A++ to the reinforcement kit. Going to get one for the IS too. It's over center spring is fucked too, but didn't brake anything.

Happened to my e28 also. What a pain, except I thought my two week old MC had failed and bought another.
I bought that same reinforcement kit. Prolly should get one for the e30.

I just replaced my pedal bracket assembly and bought the reinforcement bracket plus the SS tab, so I don't ever have to do it again, it was horrible, also did the clutch MC.

                            The cracked pedal assembly:

Yeah, didn't see or feel any cracks, but I figured if I was going in there I'd put the kit in. Now I've got to get one for the IS and fix it's spring, which has fallen down but didn't take out the MC feed nipple.

                              Mmmmmmoney money money money money.

found out that because it hadnt been used in so long I really just had to crank it for a while to get the washer fluid going. not broke = sweet.
