    1983 533i - Fair Price?

I'm going to see this car tomorrow, and I've never owned an e28 before, despite always wanting to. I think if the car is rust free I'm going to offer 1800 and go from there. What do you think is a fair price for this car?

I think that car is fair priced at 2200.

Having the jumper cables lurking nearby seems to indicate something... I'm trying not to jinx you on this, but that was the first thing that struck me as odd.

        Didnt even notice the cables...

Seems like a fair price if it is not a rust pile

Saw it. Rust and rot at all four jack points. A/C removed (important to have down in DC) and some other issues. Ended up picking this one up for $800 (only one surface rust spot, no rot):

Now I'm just getting ready to put it back together.

Seems like a decent price for that. I paid a few hundred more than that for my 86 535i.

E34s aren't worth as much as you think. E28s are probably worth as much as you think.

Lol good synopsis. If it's e28 and not a rusty bucket, is worth about as much as a similar year Volkswagen. It really does surprise me though how far the e34 has fallen in recent years. Supply versus demand. It was a numerously produced car, and people willing to work on their own cars are not typically the average 5 series owner demographic. We are talking about a two or more decade old vehicle after all
