    New tire recommendations

    Hey all,

The tires that came on my 525i have bitten the dust and it's time for something new, i just don't know what to to choose.
I do some ocasional spirited driving on secondary paved roads and some boring highspeed freeway driving in a hot climate with about 1-2 months of rain during the winters and no snow.
I have about $120 to spend per tire max. If i can spend less then all the merrier.
My ciriteria would be for 235/45 ZR 17´s with good sidwall strength, decent treadwear, acceptable road noise and good dry/wet grip.
I would love to hear opinions from the other e34 guys.

I'm not a "e34" guy but I do ok with tires lol

For a good bang for buck tire, all around good performing I would recommend either Dunlop Direzza DZ101 or the Goodyear Eagle GT. Both great tires with good characteristics all around IMO

Thanks for the advice. The only one of these available were the Goodyears and they were asking far more than what they should be going for, serves me right for moving to a banana republic.
In the end i decided to go for some Toro Proxes T1 Sports. The price was nice and they had some favourable reviews.

How much did you spend? The last 4 sets of tires I got in that size were Falken 452s and now I have a different tire on my M-systems that I hate.

They came out to 448€ ($584US) shipping included.
The PO put on a mix of Falkens and Dunlops which are now so far gone that if i were put on wagon wheels it would be an improvement
New tires will be here on monday, and they should be on by friday.
Even though i have nothing to compare the new ones against, i´ll post my impressions after about a week of driving.

BTW what tires are you currently running?

              I'm a fan of Continental ExtremeContact DW's.

I am too, that's what's on my E30 now. However I only got ~20k out of the set I put on my E39. I replaced them with DWSs, which have a treadlife warranty - no such with the DW.

Good video! Hopefully that was your wife giving you the thumbs down and not your instructor... ;)

General Exclaims, they are cheap but I'd rather spend more and get the Falken 452s again.

Today has been a very good day.
I dropped the car off at the body shop to get some nasty dents removed after almost two years of procrastinating.
The delivery guy showed up this afternoon with some pre-christmas gifts :D
And one of my clients just mailed me to tell me he needs some work done for a new project!

The tires are going to have to until i get the car back from the shop. While the rims are off i´m going to polish the barrels and deal with some curb rash.
