Yeah. I have a ton of shitty y pipes , several of which should fit.

I fucking dread using a single inlet, but WTF, its only for looks anyway.

Yea that's my thought. Most other times I would do it "the right way". I'm going for looks and a bit of sound. It's not like this car is particularly fast by any means.

if you keep everything stock except swap the muffler, it will probably give you what you want. the stock cats keep the rasp down.

my m50 swap car had cheap aftermarket cats, resonator and craptastic muffler and it wasnt too loud, and sounded nice! louder than i'd want for my e34 touring, but i'd imagine with the stock cats you'd be fine.

as far as looks go, its better to get the shop to do a y-pipe before the muffler, do a single-in single out muffler, then pick a set of tips such as: http://www.carid.com/universal-exhau...Fag7MgodOyoAFw

Off topic, but what suspension did you put on your touring?

Thanks for the reply. I have yet to do anything as some other issues popped up but hopefully soon I'll get the exhaust done.

The suspension is all stock in the rear. The front is Bilstein sports with Bav auto springs, no upper spring pad. I wouldn't mind a tad lower but for a daily driver that still rides quite smooth it's a nice compromise.

i think it looks spot on. i want to lower mine, but its a daily and i dont need stiff springs so that setup sounds good for me.

I have a single 2.5 inch pipe form the cats back to a maganflow universal and it sounds decent.

I actually had my buddy do a pull past me on the road (so I could hear it sounds to others) and it sounded good! When revving up it will burgle too

Dudes. I have a good spare m50 rear section, what if I cut the muffler off and used it as a test pipe for various mufflers? Complete with links to high quality recordings of the resulting sounds? You guys buy the mufflers. ;)

I had the same issue when I had my wagon, but then I had Luke help me wire up my sound system via telly. So no need for exhaust noise. But the wagon has gone to a better home and back to the ticking M20.
