What to look for?

So I've been looking at a few e28s and decided to pick one up as a daily driver while i work on the e30. Im not too familiar with the e28 chassis or the drivetrain. My question is, what should i be looking for in an e28? Pros? Cons? I have 2000 to spend so im not expecting much as far as the condition for the cosmetics, but how reliable are these engines?
