    94 525it aka rust bucket

    Hey guys, so the family just added a 1994 touring to the fleet after I found it on craigslist and thought we had to have it. It had a little more rust than I was expecting when I first saw it but couldn't pass it up for 1100$. Good news is all the leather is good and it drives well. The bad news is it is quite rusty. So much so that we bought a 95 sedan to steal parts off.

    Pics can be deceiving...
    Anyways is there anything we should look out for that wouldn't be obvious to replace/check during the reconstruction? This is my first post so help me out!

    First of all, congrats. The e34 touring is fantastic. I've had mine for a year now and love it.

    These cars are notorious for the Trans Program code which locks the car into 3rd gear. If you don't get the code - then good for you. Also - the rear cargo latch tends to fail because of wiring issues back there. And the double-sided sunroof tends to fail as well. If yours is working, use it a lot as that keeps things smooth and operational.

      Thanks! I'm excited for it for sure. We drove it home so trans is good. The guy said the sunroof worked but we didn't want to test it in the snow and now the battery is out so I'll keep hoping :?

          also the touring is a beautiful car. Its the only thing that will make all this work worth it.
