1990 525i kick down issue

The kickdown function started acting up in my auto 525i. When I depress the accelerator the car tries to kickdown into the lower gear but it it just acts erratically and won't accelerate.

Has anyone else experienced this?

i WILL try show you the cable that I tightened, I can easily loosen it a bit again. I just found it odd that it COULD kickdown without the switch being engaged. Makes me wonder what the switch actually does if I CAN use kickdown without the switch
