    E30 Steering shake at 55MPH

I have done a little research on this with no smoking gun.

I have had my wheels balanced, I replaced my front rotors. Still not sure whats causing it. My next step is to just get a set of tires for the front since they are a little worn.

My steering ball joints look to be in good condition, I looked at them when I did my struts.

Did you check your control arm bushings?

My E30 did this real bad at 55 mph too, stopped as soon as I replaced my CABs.

EDIT: If your CABs are stock replace them with some from akg or something aftermarket.

Treehouse Racing CABs for solid ones. But people say it's too much to daily drive.

+1 on E30 M3 CAB. I find them to be perfect for a daily driver.

Also, is your car an airbag car? I had steering wheel rattle pretty badly when I bought my 90 325i 2 years ago. It shook under any speed, especially under braking. I replaced bent wheels, old CABs, upgraded suspension, and almost eliminated the rattle... Now I only see rattle under light braking in some conditions. My mechanic tells me that airbag cars suffer more rattle.. and that it has to do with the steering assembly linkage.

I had the same issue, went away after a complete suspension upgrade. I did it all at once, so I can't say for sure what was causing it, but looking at the old CAB's I could pretty well guess that's what was causing it.

I went with solid urethane offset bushings and IMO they're great for daily driving. I do like my ride a little stiff though. But my wife doesn't mind it either.

Bent control arms, control arm bushings, bend in one of the front wheels could all be possible culprits.

Or maybe the car morphed into an E34 overnight.
