    Turn signal switch issue

Anyone have the turn signal switch just die? The flash-to-pass and brights parts work fine, just no left or right turn signals, and the hazards work fine as well. I checked the fuses and all are okay. Do the turn signals have a separate relay for the hazards, or do they share the relay? Just don't want to spend $200+ on a switch if I don't need to.

    Thanks!

ID:	10015593 When I switched out the airbag steering wheel in my 1990 325i, I installed an MTech II steering wheel. This made the stalk controls, including the turn signal switch, too close to the wheel. I bought on eBay a NOS switch designed for the non-airbag steering wheel (61311373020). Although unused, it looked many years old. When I installed the NOS switch, it didn't work at all. There were also grounding problems, when pulling the switch down, the radio turned off. I opened the switch and cleaned out all the old dried up grease, and essentially re-built it so that it now works perfectly. The point of this story is your switch may be able to be repaired by disassembly, cleaning and greasing, and then careful reassembly.

It is also possible that you have a fault in the tracings on the PCB board of the instrument cluster. I recommend you check the BMW Electrical Troubleshooting Manual for your year and model car. With the aid of a multimeter, you should be able to determine the electrical fault causing your issue. If it is the switch, the fix is easy. If it is a fault in the instrument cluster, it is much more difficult to repair and I would recommend a professional, such as Bavarian Restorations, undertake such work.

Of course you should check the easiest things first, such as turn signal light bulbs and fuses/relays in the fuse box.
