I'm considering selling the S52 (already with new pan gasket, red loctite on the oil pump nut and E34 pan/pickup/dipstick installed), OBD-I swap parts, 413 red label DME and building a stroker M20 with a suitable compression ratio for boost and with MS as the EMS.

Please remind me that is a bad idea.

I've even considered just doing a quick main/rod bearing, headgasket on the M20 and putting it back in the car for the time being.

The S52? Still needs the OBD-I parts, coolant hoses, upper gasket kit, new radiator (old one was trashed), modded trans brace, chip for the OBD-I conversion, brake booster, etc.

Just of curiosity, how is custom building an engine with standalone EMS "waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles" compared to dropping a complete motor in?

Meh, restlessness is the real cause of this thread.

I just shipped out my trans parts to matt to have modified.

It's just the weather is finally starting to turn nice, a good buddy of mine just bought an M-Coupe, another buddy just got his 325i he's spent the last 1 1/2 years rebuilding on the road, etc.

if you can't complete this swap what makes you think you can complete and m20 stroker and turbo project? + you already have the s52, finish the swap and mildly boost that.
