    Hood latch lever Help Please

i need help fixing my hood latch lever ( im not sure the real name but the lever you pull to pop the hood). the lever was never in perfect working order since i've had the car, but it would still work, you just had to shimmy it back and forth a couple times. im not sure who broke it or how ( not me for sure prollly my dad) but i think whoever did it just ripped it back and, well now, its broken. anyone ever have this problem? my guess would be a loose/broken cable or the actual lever (2 pieces) are broken. i did go down and try to fix it but after an hour or so i decided to see what R3V has to say. i might just have to go buy a new one at the dealership, not many e30s in the yards around here. HELP PLEASE i cant get my hood open now, which i will probably need to do sometime in the future :(...

Buy a new cable/handle assembly 45$ Can from the dealer... I just did
this 2 days ago very easy. make sure you clean the lock that hold the
    hood down.

To open your hood look behind your driver side grill right next to the high beam you should see two bolts and a hole with a slot in the middle stick a long flat screwdriver in the slot and turn right your hood should pop up.

    hope this helps

Better yet, buy my $5 one. It works fine and I can ship it out Priority Mail tomorrow AM.

Let me know, best of luck.

Sorry, the cable isn't included with the handle. I know of the cable to which you are referring though, is it severed? That may make the task a bit more difficult.

Someone else PM'd me about it and asked for my PayPal info, I'll let you know if he decides to buy it. If he does, you can find these things all day long at any Pull-A-Part/Pick-A-Part, two screws, done.

You should snap a picture of the location of the release hole behind the grill and do a write up on how it's done before someone tries to pry their hood open.

                      Get a long flat-head screwdriver.

Look to the left (when facing the front of the car) of the driver's side high beam, through the grill, 2 or 3 slats from the top.

You will see a circular hole with two pieces of metal coming together in the center of the circle.

Insert flat-head screwdriver between these two pieces of metal, and twist handle.

                      The hood will pop open.
