    Help!!!over-heating

Hey guys i have big problem with my e30 i havent really mastered e30s yet so i came here to ask questions, i bumped my oil pan today on a bump and now its leaking oil from the oil pan screw, after that my car started overheating then i noticed that the fan behind the kidneys isnt working at all, why do you think the car is over heating and do i need to buy a new fan??? thank you

the fan directly behind the kidneys is the aux fan, comes on with the AC. Check your fluid levels and make sure your thermostat and related are all working well, check radiator hoses and whatnot as well. Make sure your pan gasket isn't fucked, and make sure your drain plug is all the way in, check for cracks in your pan, buy a skidplate.

oil also cools the engine along with lubricating so the leaking would cause it to be hotter... and the fan behind your kidneys is for your ac so if that was on your car would prob get hotter

aux fan should kick on low speed (90 deg cel, right after the mid mark) and on high speed (99deg cel, 3/4 mark). Usual causes for it not to work are:
        1. Blown low speed resistor
        2. Blown fuse
        3. Unplugged thermocouple (on the side of the radiator)

-If it is your low speed resistor, any easy work around is to make it kick on at high speed @ 90 degrees.. you do this by inverting two wires in the plug that is in your radiator. Of the top of my head you inverse brown and black, not 100% positive though. You can test this with the ignition on and a jumper wire between the black (or brown) and the green wire to try both speeds.. Again not 100% positive on the colors.

        good luck,
        Julien
