Help a dumbass out. Can't get spacers off.

Yeah, I'm a bonehead for not spraying some lithium grease before putting these on.

They are brand new 20mm spacers, only been on the car for 2 months. There are no provisions for a screw to press/pull it off. I've tried penetrating oil and banging on the edge with a flathead in hopes to pry it off, but no luck.

My brother suggested heat? Can i heat the spacer up a little? Will it expand enough? Any risk in damaging the wheel bearings?

heat gun and a good heavy 5+ lbs. dead blow hammer. If not enough, turn to the propane torch and heat the rotor evenly to get the heat into the bore area.

        x2

same thing happened to me when i was trying to mount my f'in winter tires. the spacers got stuck on the rear discs and wouldn't budge.

you'll be sittin there with the propane torch for a good ten minutes before anything budges, just make sure you hit the hub/bore area and around the edges of the spacer.

        good times.

Anti-Seize on the center bore and mating surface of the spacer/adapter.

sucks when the 5mm ones dont want to come off because they dont like to be wrestled with

oh, dont pry from the outer edges!! Not alone at least. Wedge a plastic scraper in there and then you need a screwdriver and hammer and get them rotating.

+1 to that, havent had a problem with them, except that antiseize gets kinda nasty after a while

I can't even squeeze the smallest feeler gauge i have in there now. If i could just get a little bit in, i could go all the way around and pry it off little by little.

Borrowing my buddy's torch on the way home tonight. Will give it a shot and post updates.

I'm glad I didn't have this problem with spacers. I had the opposite problem of the spacers falling off too easily!

I use a plastic heavy duty wedge I got from The Home Depot. Its like a giant flat screwdriver that you can hammer on.

again, my point about trying to pry them off in the most absurd way will result in bent spacers.
You want to insert anything small behind the spacer to apply some force and then get them spinning on the hub. This will run them off the hub. Prying on them will not move them very well.
Plus treat them like stuck bolts and use PB Blaster. Ive used slim metal putty spatula to open a gap and soak it in the release agent.
