    Anyone experienced with shipping motors?

I'm looking to have a motor shipped from Cali to me in Florida. The owner has quotes near $1000. Anyone know of anything more reasonable?
    thanks

The freight cost itself should be around $300-350. However, if both of you are in a residential area, you will need liftgate and residential access surcharge, which runs around $170-250 on each end, for a total of up to $500 of additional charges.

The best thing to do is to borrow a friend's pickup truck and go to the closest freight terminal to save that $170 to 250 on your end, and to use freightquote.com, which will allow you to pay less on the shipper's end for residential access and liftgate service. That could help you pare the cost down to around $550 or so.

+1 on Bax, There's pretty reasonable on prices and good time to but I'd recommend dropping it at an industrial address imo, cheaper an sometimes faster. Depo is the fastest depending if you have the means to pick it up.

I have shipped a motor and trans from NC to Kansas and it cost me 132.37. I dropped it off at the airport and it was delivered to kansas airport.
