trim delete mod (v. EPIC FAIL)

So I am driving on I-95 when something catches my peripheral vision I look to my right and I see that the chrome trim is flapping in the wind(pass side top piece). I immediately decide that I should pull over asap but I am about to go over a bridge. So while I am going over the bridge somehow the entire piece manages to come off =( I wasn't too concerned about the piece being gone but I wanted to make sure it didnt scratch my paint or anything.

Luckily when I pulled over I looked and there wasn't any scratches. I would have never thought that piece could just come off like that. I inspected the drivers side piece and it seems to be on there very firm.

In any case, I wanted to do shadowline. Question is now, where can I find that trim piece? And how in the hell could this happen?

The clips that were holding it on probably broke/came loose. I had the same thing happen to me.

That happened on my IX last year also, but I caught it before it was bent and I put it back on with some silicone because it kept popping off when I would hit a bump.

happened to me while driving to my company's Christmas party ... i had my hand on it for over 20 miles in mid December on the highway. Not the best of times.

mine flew off the driver side of my 87 325is, and gave the guy behind me a flat tire. of course, i kept going. trim that is rolled around a truck tire is not usefull anymore, plus, i didn't feel like buying that guy a tire.
