Just want to get a opinion on this problem a friend is having with his car. It is a 89 autotragic. The car actually has to get warm up when driving for the transmission to shift out of first. You have to actually drive a ways for it to change gears? Anybody have an idea what is going on?

i had the same problem but it turned out my tranny was toast but i put some lucas stop slip in it and it held it together for almost a year before i had to replace itComment

ive seen the tanny's on CL for 150 so he shouldn't be to worried.
