Buying an e21 320i

I'm unfortunately selling my e30, and a friend of mine has a very nice '83 320i for sale.

I have zero experience with e21s and I was hoping someone on here could share a little knowledge.

Any reputable e21 sites out there?

What are some common problem areas I should watch out for? If anyone has a link to an e21 buyers guide I would be most appreciative.

I'm familiar with the M20 swap, since the 1.8L 320i engine is anemic at best, and deathly ill at worst. Does anyone have any resources or info on this swap?

Guy I work with is replacing his '95 dodge neon with my vert. It'll still be around at least.

The interior is gorgeous. I'm not really familiar with e21 factory options, so i can't tell if it's black leather or leatherette.

I started talking to him a few months back when he had the e21 in a shop at school. He's a youngin' so it's actually his dads car, but his dad has been looking to sell and the price is right.

Well that is dumb.

Unless you want to hand over one of your e30s for sub 1500, I'm going with the e21 :)
