    new member hello

    A bit about me:

My dad was a P-car guy before I was born. Growing up he drove a burgundy 2002 and my mom drove a green Bavaria. I've always been fond of older German cars. In '99 we picked up a '90 325is w/ 55,000 miles, it now has 226,000. Dad has an aircooled Carrera.

I always paid a mechanic to work on it and tried to keep it up as best I can, but in recent years it's been tough. I'm now fully comitted to doing all the work myself. I've worked on cars in the past, and am fairly technical/mechanical minded so I'm confident. However, I like go into a project feeling like I know what I'm doing so I'll be relying on the forum quite a bit. (example - I've troubleshot an aor bubble in the cooling system but the bleeder screw on the thermostat housing is stuck - I'm afraid I'll strip it - any tips?)

Anyway, I've already learned a ton lurking in r3v forums. I'm glad to be here and hope I can contribute in some way.

I'm picking up ebay fogs, grille, and (eneight?) skid plate so I'll add my feedback on those.

What's the general opinion on a strut brace for helping long term chassis rigidity? The car performs great for me, but I don't wantt o have to repair sheet metal down the road.

As for your bleeder screw...hit it with some pb blaster and let it sit for a while. Then hit it with some heat. Use a socket and she should come off. If not then check out a pick and pull for another housing.

      welcome to the forum.

the skid plates are made by eric (ejnight).

i don't think the strut brace is necessary. look in the suspension subforums for discussions on that specifically.

Ha ha - Mystery Machine's not mine. We were in the city when they were filming Scooby Doo (2?) - we saw it & had to stop. This was right after some ass kicked a steel pipe into my oil cooler doing 70 (note tweaked valance). That project is next :D

                      Thanks for the welcomes!

you can also put your tool on the nut/bolt, and hit downword to relieve some pressure, will break some corosin?not sure how to spell that one ha, but usually works pretty good.
