growing up it was all wagons. not saying the giganto vans aren't sweet; I just don't think they're necessary.

If you sell it, you will always, always regret it!

If you sell the E30 you'll get hosed relative to the money, time, and effort you put into it. And for what? It's not worth that much anyway, and in a few years you'd be swearing you'd pay 2x or 3x for your car magically to appear just the way it was when you sold it.

I know. We sold our red '89 5-speed vert in '00 just after our son was born, and sure enough, things changed, we got a bigger house and oh... man I'd pay bucks to have our old car back. Our car wasn't anything near as cool as yours.

It's worth more to you than anyone else, so spare yourself the regrets. The minivan can wait. They'll still have them when you get around to it.

That's a tough one! For safety's sake, I'd go with the new ride. You can always pick up another E30 down the road, even though it is painful to give up now. I love the car though! I just got almost the exact car (1987 325ic) so I'm diggin' the vert!

All he knew that his working days were miserable and he had a succession of lousy holidays. All the clouds knew was that they loved him and wanted to be near him, to cherish him and to water him."

Funny - I just stumbled across this thread the other day. Since rdbussman revived it - here is the update of what I did. Bought a brand new Honda minivan in May - new was almost as cheap as used because it was sold under dealer invoice with all the factory cash back incentives + I get a tax credit for buying a new car in 2009. We already have 5700 miles on it and drive it everywhere - I've gone from a minivan hater to a believer. You don't understand until you have kids and have to deal with all the stuff you have to haul! It makes long trips enjoyable again!

So because we drive the minivan everywhere the company car just sits - it rarely gets driven but was needed to haul the kid to daycare. Now she is big enough to sit forward facing in a car seat - and that means the car seat can fit in the back of the E30. last week I decided that the company car was just a waste as I was paying for a car I really didn't need. I turned it back in and now the E30 is my daily driver again.

Just got some 14" weaves and ordered snow tires - so it will do fine driving the 2 miles I have to drive to daycare and work over the winter.

Not that anyone really cares - but that is what happened! :)

Now I just need to find somebody selling a hardtop for about $300!!!!

Im shore you can fit everything you need on a small car. lol.

Seriously though. Like everyone else has said you will only make a few grand from the E30 and how long will that last you. Where the new car deal probably cost you 100 dollars a week which is $5200 a year. Also now that you have a child you should really try not to live you life by credit, it is a very bad habbit. All the more reason to keep the paid for E30 and get rid of the money pit of a new car deal. just my 2 cents.

I love my e30 but when I have kids they will never ride in it. A car with side curtain air bags is a must,,, I dont understand the logic of getting rid of an e30 for another small 2dr in the 135, youll have the same problem.

E30s seem pretty worthless in resale for all the love that you put into them. They will bring in hardly anything back, and to me it is much more worth it to just keep the car.

A minivan? Why not a smaller SUV?

                        A minivan?

                        Like a minivan?

                        Is thread a tarp?

keep the e30, put it under a cover/in a garage and take your insurance off of it. youll save how much not insuring/registering it + gas and maintenance every year? then when you have afford it again, dust her off.
