germany aint all that! there is more to life than some friggin hills! I wish I had some convienence once again. not really complaining, my choice to get a house here and get robbed with taxes. wish I could go back and forth once a month though, only get back to the states about 2 times a year though. sometimes the twisties, and the autobahn really make up forall the crap over here though.Comment

Hate say it Mike you can Move back to the US or is your significant other one who won't move back to the US?
I would have gone back to my job in Germany if it had not disolved. The company paid my taxes so I did not care. The time would have been better spent with my family than continuing to gallvanting around the Globe.Comment

I choose to stay here too, the wife wont leave right now either. but i swear I will not get old over here or conform to act like a german! The days of the companies paying taxes for contractors, or getting us ID cards are well over. I move all over the place here too, just try not to go out of germany if i can avoid it. with all the deployments the army has now, all the contracts are short, and move all over the place. I could have gone back to the states last year, but decided against it, life isnt so hard here--and I dont really have to work hard, but I miss the big city chicago life alot sometimes. I dont think I ever saw a real tractor in my life before coming to germany, now I am the only one on my block without one!!!Comment

There's your problem, you work for Army related contractors. I worked for USAF contractors. I had two ID card but I was given the option of a GS-11 equivilent ID just due to better service with that one as opposed to my MSgt id and my wifes SSgt id card.Originally posted by mikeedlerI choose to stay here too, the wife wont leave right now either. but i swear I will not get old over here or conform to act like a german! I had the choice to relocate to Al Udied in Quater for a year but choose not to. They could not by law terminate me, I choose not to move, this kept me on good side of company, so I get a bonus from them every year.
TESA was a PIA big time but once I had it the German gov't can't do squat to me. Stupid thing is to do my previous job you needed a TS clearance a US citizen but the job still was under there guidelines. BS.Comment
