does anybody know someone that works at apple? I need a favor to ask, got scammed.

so I put a gift card for 540 dollars on craigs list.

some dude , lets call him brian, brian emails me asking if i take paypal

i find this uneasy since i wanted to do a cash deal. but brian seems to really want it so i carry on with the deal

brian calls me, everything seems okay so then he pays me through paypal.

I give brian my gift card # and pin # then he uses it all immidiately.

the paypal gets reversed for some reason.

I call brian but his phone # was disconnected, so I figure it was a pay per phone or something. but he still emails me saying he will call his bank...I am assuming to make sure APPLE ships his stuff out...mistake #1 on my side

then i do some research on his paypal account email since the emails he sent were through his sprint mobile phone. and I get brian's home address through another source.

I call brian . finally get in touch with him. BUT its a completely different guy. sure the paypal account is his but he never claims to have sent me the payment. so this guy thinks I WAS trying to steal 540 from his account and stopped the payment (reason why it got reversed)...

now...I feel like the only way to get him is to find where apple shipped the item, but if it was a PO box I feel like I am screwed.

so yeah I feel like I need to find a way to get apple to help me, they are saying its the customer's privacy blah blah. Ugh.

No way they are going to give out that info and I doubt someone will risk their job to get you that info. That really sucks dude.

Apple isn't going to do anything. It has nothing to do with anything on their end. As far as they're concerned, you might as well have just given the gift card info to the guy free of charge. I actually just talked to a guy on the phone the other day who had a $100 iTunes gift card on Craigslist, and he let the guy buying it pay him by check. The check bounced, and before the seller had realized it, the guy had used the entire gift card. There was nothing we could do, it had nothing to do with Apple.

You never should have taken Paypal in the first place, much less given over the pin and info before you had the cash out of Paypal and in your hands.

If you felt uneasy about it, you shouldn't have done it.

why don't you file a paypal claim?

as long as you didn't get one of those fake paypal emails making it look like you had a payment only to find nothing in your paypal account, then you might have a chance.

I have had good luck with paypal claims. recovered my money every time. Demand your money back from paypal. As far as you're concerned, paypal stole this money from you when they reversed the charges. This money is yours for the item sold. If their system is not secure, it is up to them to remedy the problem. Keep after them. send too many emails. It should be like a credit card, where you are refunded for fraudulent charges.Do it right away so they can contact apple. If this guy has not changed his account, he is probably in on it. Contact his local police dept. and talk to a fraud detective.Ask him to contact apple also. Sprint should be advised that their network is being used for fraud.-good luck

you're better off going to small claims court. Once the guys see's the court paper he'll usually give in. If not, go to court and present your case.
