Sorry Terp, must have misread.
The benefit of the m5x is it is a newer engine design. If I did an m5x I doubt I will do FI, maybe later down the road but not right away for sure. It will definitely get better mileage then a FI m20 stroker which is nice due to my commute to work, and I have a feeling that an m5x would probably be more reliable then a FI m20, although m20's are pretty solid.
I guess I'll need to do some reading regarding the cooling issues of m5x engines. You are right that I would be replacing all the gaskets and whatnot, I don't like doing things half assed because I don't like worrying about it, I'd rather spend money upfront and not have to redo things later down the road.
I've got a bit of time to weigh in on what to do. m5x seems appealing just because it's a newer engine. SC seems nice because it is cheaper to do, but it is not very documented, I'm sure we can fab stuff up but it's still nice to have some direction incase you hit a problem.
Fixing this engine would be the cheapest, but I just worry about this engine, I think I'd rather spend more money and get something that doesn't leave me worried.
So much to think about :-/, either way I'll be happy I'm sure. Thanks for the input guys.
Thanks for the info about checking the HG btw, appreciate that.
