    UPS Blew it

Was wanting to get advice, not hear what UPS themselves tell me but people with experience with this type of issue

weeks ago a person on this forum bought some parts from me (shadow trim) he paitently waited
tracking found that UPS is retruning to me for damage to package in shipment, but of course its thier nickel so its taking the slowest route back to me

In all my years I have never had an issue with ups, knock on wood, and like I said above IM sure UPS will have thier version of how they would like me to handle it,
but what exprience have others had

to get the insureance money do all the parts just get thrown away ???

will I get my insurance money back ( so I can refund the original buyer)
+ the money I put out for shipping

man too bad I did not insure it for 1k or something

My business ships glass, and we actually prefer using Fed Ex. UPS has a damage claim policy stating that you need at least 2" of padding/box wall from the product to the outside. If you followed this rule, you will get every penny back from the damage claim. Good thing you had insurance too.

Damage to package in shipment usually means the box is screwed up, and they can either see the product or can already tell its all jacked up. There are forms that you use to file damage claim. Just ask the guy who drops the box back off to you.

I'll let you know. I'm in the process of a claim with them right now.

maybe it's because I have a Preferred account with them for my business, but i find that after dealing with all of the paper work, the more often than not pay for it. The investigation goes something like this:

supervisor: do you remember package with the tracking number 1Zxxxxxxxxxxx
        driver/loader: nope
        supervisor: was it packed improperly?
driver/loader: can't remember, i see hundreds of units a day

Then you go through three weeks worth of paper work, including the reciepts for evrything, and it takes them additional two to three weeks to send you one of they're fancy UPS checks

lol, they don't talk to the drivers about that. How do I know? I am one. Usually they'll ship it back to you and you hold on to it for till the driver shows up later with a call tag. Then it gets sent to whomever looks at the packaging to see if it was packed properly, etc. But as far as what you get back, I don't know how all that works. I just deliver boxes.
