16x7 and 17x8 tire selection size

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a good tires for my set of 16x7 basketwaves rims and as well for the 17x8 540i e39 2 piece forged rims (can't remember the model name).

What would be the max wide you could mount in the 16x7 with out getting it too "fat look"? 225/50 sounds a bit much?

    How about the 17x8?

    Thanks

225/50 on the 16x7 would be fine. It would be slightly on the puffy side, but would work just fine.

    For the 17x8 I would recommend 235/40.

I was thinking the same. The throwing stars on the M5 was 17x8 and 17x8.5 ? I remember my dad's 535i e34 with those rims mounted on 245/45RR17 tires and look awesome and not puffy as you mention. I woul like to go 245 but I don't want a puffy look.

225/45X16 are the correct size for handling, diameter, and appearance on the 16X7 wheel. TireRack has them.

Sounds good to me for the 16x7 combo.

Now, 245 is good, but 35 is not in these roads, it has to be at least 45, hopefully it won't look bad.
