There was a discussion about this on bf.c about eight years ago and there where a couple of people who actually knew the car, rumor was it was supercharged.'89 325is S50 Track Montser

I was talking to my friend who had done some research on this guy - the kid apparently got away, and came back to turn himself in the next day! If you watch closely, the clip at the end where the car 'breaks down' is just a re-run of RIGHT before he cuts across the median. :) I watched it several times, he wasnt kiddinghttp://l0st0n3.mybrute.com

He does say supercharged vehicle but i think he was using supercharged out of context.
I particularly enjoy the LT1 computer chip comment and "when the bimmer guns its 240hp engine, the deputy answer back with the camaros 350 horse" as the bimmer is just pulling away LOL ya got to love TV.
Did the kid really get away?
"The officer reacts instantly" as he goes into the median then across the hwy into the barrier... LOLTurbo E30

LOL Awesome... I guess it wouldn't be a good episode if the cops couldn't catch a 15yo. LOL

Super old, and controversial. If you watch the part when they say he broke down, they are actually replaying the part when he brake checks him. The police officer also states that the camaro is faster then that of the general public, cop cars typically don't get performance upgrades. They used to (unsure if they still do) come with forged internals, high output alternators, a couple hundred pounds worth of electronics, and cat's that are more resistant to clogging. You can read up on police car specs on Chrysler's site, in the fleet section.
It kinda reminds me of a German "Vanishing Point" except this car isn't really supercharged.
