What are you looking to spend? (Help me gauge on where to help you look) I might know of some places, what about Loudon/Sterling area? just outside of Fairfax?

Fairfax is a GREAT school district. Rated one of the best in the country. 4th grade? that is a fun age.

Fairfax county is HUGE and diverse. Chantilly and centerville are good options.Where will you be working though? if you are going to be in further, towards DC, you are going to HATE the commute. 66 is an absolute BITCH during rush hour. It might have you swapping IN an auto tranny!!

Real Estate is more expensive as you move further east though. Vienna is very nice. There are some good deals in McLean as well. But they are few and far between. Are you only looking on craigs list? Where else have you looked? The area right around Dulles is decent as well. Townhouses are the norm around here. FYI...

I will be happy to help where I can, I live in Arlington county and work in Fairfax. I have lived ALL over NOVA and still travel about often. Let me know if you need anything.

It is well off the beaten path though. It will mean a lot of driving for you when traffic is bad, which can be often. the nearest metro is like it says, 10 min away. that is without traffic. In morning rush hour, it is at least 30. Then it is another 30 to 40 min into the city depending on where you are going.

It says that it is 7 min from 66, but Vienna is 10 min from the Chantilly exit on 66, so I would add that 7 min onto the highway travel time. Unless they are saying it is 10 min to Vienna metro using back roads? There are a lot of those around here. You become very good at finding alternate routes!

My wife will be working on Boiling AFB which is right across the Potomic river. Me I hope to be working right in that same area.

She has two slushbox cars, I on the other hand do not and will not to go back to a wet noodle tranny.

I went to Brookfield ES in Chantilly. Great school, great neighborhood, though the houses are somewhat old.

Chantilly is a nice place, my cousins live in around that area. The schools in fairfax in general are great as mentioned before. They attend Poplar Tree ES, which looking at the map of the house looks like your daughter would be going to.

This is a link to an overview of the school

The commute is going to suck no matter what.

That is a good deal for a house, most in the area of Vienna, Fairfax City, Burke are going for over $2,000/month. Real estate in this area is very very expensive.

Greg, that house is a steal for the NoVa housing market.
