    s#%$!!! lost my only key...

    anyone know if the dealership can cut a key from the VIN?

    i havent registered the car in my name yet, but i do have a bill of sale and a title.

    I don't know if you need to have it registered, but you definitely need the title. As long as none of the locks were replaced they can run the VIN and get it for you. It usually takes about a week or more because they don't cut them there, at least that's what I was told.

      You can get them cut, I got some made from the vin of the junk car that my replacement locks came out of. without the title..I had a note from the junkyard..lol

                    I was in the same boat, except my two keys broke off in the driver's door and ignition (respectively). I had to call a locksmith out and drop $150 to get new keys made on-site.

                      Just the reason to have a spare hanging up in the house or in garage. I have spares for mine now except one and that comes this week.

                      Lost mine and just when I stopped looking for it, it did the reappear trick of being under my nose.

                            i went to my local hardware store to get a back-up made. sure enough that didnt work so I take it back and try to get another one made. they make me 3 more to try.. 1st one = fail. second one = fail. third = fail.

                            So I guess I should go to the dealership?
