    New 1-Series

Any official news if we are to receive the 1-series diesel over here? I have read a few websites but none of them have been able to confirm it.

Last I read (in Roundel) was that we weren't.

I read in TotalBMW that the goal of the 1-series was to attract more female drivers to the BMW brand. That was from BMW themselves.

Don't feel too bad, most E30 owners that I knew in the 80's were girls.

We will be getting one with the new R6 engine in about 3 years, from what I have garnered. It's not that pretty. Saw one this weekend on road, looks like the Mazda 3.

So BMW is making the 1-series as if like their own verison of the Mini?
Seems like the same thing only pure BMW instead of an adopted design.

It's meant to compete with the Jetta/Golf market

I heard from a BMW factory instructor that they plan to release the 1 series, including the hatchback version, in 2007.

Don't BMWs already attract females? :)

And what's wrong with the Mazda 3..... Other than the fact that it is the best handling and safest FWD car sold in the US.
