I believe it was 1 bolt on the bottom and two on the top for the strut. Go to vwvortex.com and i am sure they will have some diagrams and pics for you.

that's correct, it's similar to the E30 in that the spring is seperate and inward of the shock on the suspension arm. The shock can be removed from working just in the wheel well, 2 bolts up top remove the upper mount, and one bolt on the bottom attaches it to the suspension arm.

Ok is the travel length the same? The weight the same? It's not a good idea to mix and match shock rates unless you know they are equal or greater if desired. You might not get the desired ride.

Ight.... how does a brand new, shiny pair of rear Konis's sound for say 140-150ish. If they dont work of course.

If the Koni's were for a 2000 Jetta then the car weighed about 2900-3100 depending on options and stuff, with about 62% of weight being on the front wheels. I am sure you could make them work with adapters if you know someone that is good with a welder. The biggest problem I can see is the length of the strut, the Jetta strut mounts pretty high up in the body so the strut may be too long to work very well in an e30.
