To refinish or not....

My quest for appropriate wheels for the vert has ended (for now) The wheels were not in as bad a shape as I had originally thought but could certainly use a refinish, herein lies the problem

As you can see from above its not your typical 1 piece wheel, it actually looks as if it was two pieces welded together. The chrome/polished lip extends beyond the mesh. Now I know if I have the wheels redone, they'll likely just paint over that inner part. It going to be a bitch to get in there and try to clean/tape without taking apart the wheel, which is not even worth the hassle.

So do I just kiss that inner polish part goodbye and refinish the wheels or keep the wheels as is...no refinish...:

Either mask it, pay someone else to mask it or don't paint it.

I masked my kidney grilles pretty well, took me like 20 minutes while watching californication. Four wheels will obviously take much longer (probably a few hours) but you will be a lot happier with the result. You don't want it turning out looking corny.

what did you mask on the kidney?
The outer trim (chrome like section) removes from the main black grille.

Polish the lips, Fresh coat of gold. If you paint the chrome in between the spokes oh well. Theres really nothing you can do about it unless you want to spend a lot of time with some small polishing tools..

Thats what I was thinking...I'm going to look into what I can do to protect that chrome though...if not no love lost...me still happy!
