:D The early Legacys are just as light as those STis, but have a longer wheelbase for more legroom. :)
Janderson: the model you want is the V5/V6 (Version 5/6) STi - built in 1999 & 2000. The top-dog ones were the STi Type RA which were essentially a very hardcore CSL-type deal.
The early GC8 WRXs (MY94-MY98) sell out here for between $USD5000-$USD6000 and are common as fuck. That is roughly what a decent E30 will set you back out here, too, but the E30s are RARE in 2dr form.
The later MY99-MY00 WRX (lots and lots of upgrades on them) sell for around $USD9000, or the same money as a really good 325iS E30 or seriously modified lesser-spec E30. Getting hard to find a stock, clean one too.
GC8 STis were a limited release in Australia (only 400 coupes and 400 sedans brought in), so they're worth roughly $USD10,000
