heheheh, my CV joint exploded tonite.

It appears that one of the tines bent enough to let a bearing shift and the cage that usually holds all the bearings in blew up. The boot came off and it expelled grease, ball bearings, the cage, and bits of what is left of the halfshafts joint out into the street.

It was pretty spectacular. Should be able to rebuild it tommorow.

i gues the cvs on the early 318i must be stronger, not. so this is something i probably get to look forward to as well.

Im gonna see if one of the local shops has one and if not likely red label one in.

Hopefully this was just a sign that they needed to be replaced anyway.

                          Inner or outer CV???

I have heard the inner CV's can be replaced with E28 CV's, You would also need the stub axles for the diff too.

Ryan, you have 245's and a LSD!?!?!
What where you doing at the time? Trying to launch off the lights and bang??

Outer. Im just going to get new ones and assume that mine were just old. Randy had run a friggin supercharged S52 for a long time and I dont recall him ever doing this.

No I was halfway through second gear, about 4500-5000 rpm. Pedal to the floor. Not racing anyone just taking a friend for a ride.

I can add an R32 to the kill list from Friday night tho.

                            /edit: yes on both counts. 245s and a 3.25ls from a 535is.
