feeler: WTT my e30 for e36?

I've always wanted an e36 since i remember realizing what a car was. Almost bought an e36 m3 before i bought my e30 actually. I'm getting a little bored with my car to be honest and i've been thinking that i'd love to trade my e30 for an e36 with someone. I figure i could probably get 4-5k for my car locally.
You guys think thats a decent trade? I'd love to get a m3 if possible even if it needs a little work.... ideas?Q?@

You should buy an e36 m car and put the only part thats worth anything (the motor) into your e30, that way you don't have to live in that cheesedick interior.

4-5k will get you a salvaged M3 that needs some pretty serious work...

If you want a decent car, you're looking at a 328is.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have someone checking out mine this Sunday. Good luck with the trade or sale.

I have had about 7 E36's including 4 M3's My E30 has outlived them all and I am taking a S52 and putting it in the E30. If you love the feeling of raw connected driving keep the E30 and mod it right, if you want more civil car try a E36, great cars but I love my E30

yeah i mean i do have turbo plans for the e30 but thats pretty much 4-5 g's that i can plan on ever seeing again. The e36, especially m3 will more likely hold its resale value. But then again, if you lived by that theory you would never spend money personalizing a car in the first place soo idk :p

If you get anything you're probably going to be looking at a moderate 328is that still needs a pretty good amount of work. Forget about a decent m3, unless you want to add thousands more in cash, and why would you trade for a 325? so you can have an m50 in a heavier car? I don't about you but I don't ever consider re-sale value when it comes to an e30, i don't think most of us do, so if you're bored and that's your concern, happy hunting. Imho I think it's time for a engine upgrade project like turbo, new engine, NOS, something, or even body modifications. Or sell your current e30 and buy another project car to start rebuilding.

What resale value do you think there is going to be on a $5k car?

Not always, bought a 95 e36 M3 this week for 5k with 104K and two owners. Most will be high mileage cars.
