Japan has had these for years. Only problem here in the states is that when said person gets injured lawyers will be all over you. Thought about doing this 10 years ago but with the sue happy American public decided not to.

Theres gotta be a iron clad waiver that someone has to sign to make this work, and some due dillagance on the part of the company granting access to the space. I mean you aren't going to rent a 10 ton tractor to any idiot with a Class C lic are you? You would have to have some qualifications right?
And forming and LLC properly would take a lot of the limits off the proprieters to some extent I would think.

Other then that I would be down. Specially if I could rent a bay that had access to a paint booth! Man I would be all over that right about now. Some place to do all my bodywork in peace and thrash my garage with dust and overspray/drop cloths. Basically some place I didnt have to clean up after myself would be FTW! Something like that I would gladly pay $20/hr so i could make a mess and then roll it into a proper paint booth with proper ventilation and baking for paint! Figure I would easily pay that much if I had to buy everything (including a proper compressor) for my garage to make it "Right" for me to spray one or two cars.

I'd worry about the safety of long term rentals (damage/theft) and the same goes for tools.

it all comes down to sue happy americans. Even if you do everything in your power to make and keep them safe. If something happens its all on you....And you will have to fight to keep insurance coverage, and get them to pay up if something happens.
It would have to be like our local PAP yards. I call it signing the death waver. And you still arent completely free of liability with that.
