    Light weight Spare Wheel (Donut)?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone know if BMW made a spare donut for e30s? I'm not talking about a full replacement wheel that came standard but just a steel donut with a slim tire on it?

My car didn't come with a spare wheel and I'm looking for one just as an a precaution but also something light weight because my trunk set up is pretty light so far with my ltw battery and all.

I've thought about this too. There are plenty of honda's that are 4x100. You might borrow one from there.

Thought of tyre mousse? Like what a lot of new cars come with - it is just a can of foam that you use as a temp measure to get yourself home/to a tyre shop.

i have thought about it, in fact considering it all though, I think a spare tire is meant for our cars.

As you can see a lot of modern cars come with that stuff because their vehicles werent designed for a spare in mind. Many older cars utilize a spare not only in the event of a tire blow out, but for rear impact protection to. since the wheel well is hallow, any impact in the rear will be worse without something obstructing its path

coming from the e46 crowd, I've seen pictures of rear impact without a spare wheel on a coupe (It literally turned into a hatchback). However this isn't a problem with the e46 m3 that was designed without a spare wheel in mind (the rears frame is heavily reinforced )

How many flat tires have you had? Do you have AAA? I've had one flat in 15 years of driving have AAA and probably don't really need to carry a spare.

If you're worried much about rear impact in an e30 compared to an e46 you should probably go buy an e100 or whatever they're up to now, or maybe a volvo.

That was kinda dumb. "Hey, if you want to stay alive when someone rear ends you, go get a stupid new car because you're clearly not an enthusiast."

I've been rear ended before and let me tell you, it is neither fun nor your fault. Only thing worse would be if it killed the passengers in the rear of your car because you were trying to save weight by taking out the damn spare.

havent driven on 680 north towards sac much have you?
i've had 4 flat tires in all 6 years of my driving commuting from home to college back when I was an undergrad.
Of those 6 years I've been a victim of 3 rear end collisions as a result of careless drivers (I think I'm an SUV magnet). I'm driving my second e46 as of now so please excuse me when I sound overly cautious in trying to maximize my safety while still driving the cars I've admired my whole life. Its the recent uprising of careless drivers that has gotten me so overly cautious.

Exactly. A word of warning the newer e36/e46/e90 coupes don't really seem to farewell in rear collission. The aluminium concentration in the most newer Bimmers seem to have gone down hill in an effort to reduce the weight of producing newer bigger cars (hence the recent rise in subframe damage).

Owning my first e46 coupe, and being rear ended because the previous owner didnt include the spare.. my car became a hatchback and THANK GOD no passengers were in the rear. Since then I've been overly cautious and have gotten a newer e46 sedan which is more structurally sound compared to the coupe and had spare tire. It was one of the best decisions I've made as the most recent accident I've been in had reduced damage which I can credit to my spare tire (as well as my suitcase full of clothes in the trunk) at the time.

Anyone considering a 4x100 donut from a Honda or Saturn.

Have you tried fitting it to an E30?

                      Does not fit.

I tried with a 25mm adapter, still did not clear the caliper.

Don't have a spare, maybe I should put it back in or find something else to stuff in there. Look at the way everyone drives I won't change a flat on the side of the road.

i think I'll just purchase an extra dforce ltw5 wheel in a month. Shouldn't be too bad being $115 for a semi forged wheel. Its light and and has strength
