    Need some serious help!

Today I took off from a stop sign shifted from 1st to 2nd at about 4500 rpm
and all I hear is a pafff sound then the car is still but 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears all feel like they dont exist, I cant get the shifter into 4th or 5th, and the car is somehow stuck in reverse.

I looked under the car and the tranny seems to have some wetness on it, It feels like tranny fluid.

Any ideas of what it could be?

    Any help would be great

    Thanks guys

Does your clutch pedal stay stuck to the floor?

If you put the car in 2nd or 3rd and car doesn't shut down BLOWN tranny nice one.

broken shift selector rod would be my guess, and your first hope.

                    They are all wet underneath.
Hopefully it is the selector rod, or the shift plate (if you have an older model). I know that when the bushing in my shift plate went, my e28 was all but un-drivable.
                    Yours truly,

                        How hard were you shifting?

                        How hard were you driving?

The transmissions on these cars are usually pretty bullet proof. So chances are its somewhere in the shift linkage like everyone is saying.

If you can't even shift it into a gear it has to be a shifter mechanism of some sort.Try looking at real OEM to see an explosion so you can have an idea of what parts may be the isssue good luck.

Climb under your car and look at the rod that connects your shifter to your transmission.

Thats the part that sucks the most, I was shifting normally, and driving I shifted it at 4-4500 rpm instead of my usual 2500-3000rpm

I will check that out, But currently 1st, 2nd seem to be really loose, as for 3rd, 4th, and 5th I cannot put the shifter into their positions it seems jammed, and the shifter sits in neutral but the car is stuck in reverse.
