Should I keep the door bump strips?

I am getting body work done on my black '89 325is and I cant decide what to do with the bump strips on the doors and fenders. The car currently has the all black strips which i think look good on a black car, particularly with the "is" skirts. I could also remove the things all together for the M3-esque look. Its a little cleaner maybe. any one have a pic of this? Also I have heard of some people use the strips off another car that are maybe less huge. I dont know anything about this... anyone??? pics???

looks wise this is going on a black plastic bumper 325is, all shadowline everything, is skirts and front lip, ryan g splitter, mtechI wing, euro bumper fillers, shaved door locks and antenna. slammed on deep dish 17". The car isnt a daily driver so I am not really concerned with getting my door dinged with out the strips. Purley for cosmetics.

what do you think looks best and provide pics to prove it.

Well I don't have any pictures but I say go for it. I personally think it looks great. My car is really similar to the one you are doing. It is schwarz, shaved door locks and hood roundel, euro trim, is skirts, is front lip and splitter, mtech1 spoiler etc. I wanted to shave the door trim like you, but I ended up not doing it because I am an amateur and I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get it perfect. If you are having a pro do it, I'd say go for it.

Also, the user mentaleeill has some custom door trim that is flatter and really looks good. Here is a picture:

I'm going to be using e39 trim for my 4 door which is flatter and much like the above picture. Below is a pic of the car I'm basing my car's design off of (except with IS side skirts instead of the e36 ones and no eyebrow trim):
