    Anyone?

So what is this "far gnarlier" stuff for boxes?

    Srsly?

That is the most common stuff to use for upholstery stuff, or like subwoofer boxes and such.

I use a far gnarlier stuff for boxes, but keep the spray glue on hand for gaskets and vapor barriers in doors.

3M is fine, as is the cheap Duro shit. For gasket holding, all of them work great.

    no oil pan gasket FTW
I believe mine is paper actually, maybe it is an iX thing, interesting.

I'm getting ready to have my mech replace mine, he's using Dirko sealant per my request. Since my mechanical abilities in that area are equivalent to that of a squirrel and I have no space to adequately replace it, I figured he'd be able to do it quicker and not mess anything up.

Luke, any links to this spray-on sealant?

Permatex brand High Tack Gasket Sealant, ftw... At Napa Auto Parts stores and stuff like that.

resists oil and gas and stuff, acts like a holding glue so the gasket stays put when assembling parts. Also recommended on valve cover gasket. Apply to both sides.

Spread on some Aviation non-hardening gasket sealer to both sides of the gasket and it stays in place perfectly and seals perfectly too!

Luke, you know what would hit the spot after a stressful job like an oil pan gasket?

A nice, hearty drag from a cig.

it's just an ix thing. there's only a thin layer of sealant. I'm guessing because of the torque put on the oil pan by the front diff that a cork gasket wouldn't last very long. Maybe the sealant would work for all M20s though? as long as the bottom is machined flat I can't see why not.
