I saw cops do it... they use an inflatable pouch to spread the top of the door from the body.. you need a half inch to insert a tool of some sort to lift the lock button. It's different from the slim-jim since you actually force the door to open.

so your saying the owner of the building died and his car has been there for 6 years?

go to department of transpo, take the vin number and find the owner. do it right. just because it sat for six years doesnt mean they had permission to.

you already stated you have no connection, and theft is no way an answer. unless your getting parts for your wifes car.

sorry, but a thief in my area wrote their ass a check that my shotgun can cash.

Its either me taking it home or them crushing it because its taking up parking space in their building....
Why don't you want to just smash a window if it's only a parts car?
You're putting too much thought into this.

Why don't you approach the owner of the building and/or any surviving family members and offer to take the car away for free?

They give you the keys and title, you haul it off, strip it, part it, make some coin then have the carcass hauled off.

Or petition DMV to take ownership of the car if you can prove it has been abandoned.

what i tried to get at.

it ALWAYS works better for the person who goes the legal route.

even if it sat for years, the family might have the right to press charges, and grand theft is a hefty one.

I guess in puerto rico, law's are a lil different... Cuz the last time i checked, unless the owner signs off on the title to a new owner, the car still technically belongs to the original owner...

just sidestep him and go to the dmv and ask for an abandon vehicle title, and if they dont get the letter to claim it. then its yours :)
