Mileage is almost everything here as there is very little rusting problem with the dry air. The Spanish in the south never drive so most of the cars down here are low mileage. The Americans here put the miles on the cars.

$4k is a steal. 5 lug's sell for $2k, rear seat is $400 easy and so are the fronts if they are nice. Core s14's are at least $2k, never seen one for less. That's $5k in just a few parts. Plus shells sell for $2k all day long. Then add all the little parts that bring good cash ie. cluster, bumpers, trunk mat, rear shelf, crack free dash, sideskirts with clips, black headliner etc.

There was a basketcase example that was in Newark DE. that was $800 three years ago complete. Owner quit on and left it in the yard.

We know it's not a great example but the owner probably doesn't want to give it away. Core support to a body guy is nothing. I see people fixing cars with far more rust in just a standard E30 here than that is. Granted we are just seeing the outside.

I am in the process of gutting two e30's for parts because I don't do bodywork on nasty rusty cars and these two are.

Navy or Air force. I'm in Rota

I would take it if the motor runs and sounds good at $4k and get it out of the guys yard the same hour. Completely worth it in parts

They are excellent daily drivers and reliable provided you are proactive with maintenance. One friend had close to 300k miles before selling to buy a newer M car. Never broke down and run great, but he was very proactive in caring for it.

E30 M3s in Spain sell for 13k-22k euros. And they sell for those prices. Google the conversion rates for dollar to euro. Bad examples in need of a good deal of repairs....all with low miles sell for $7000 euros. The three M5s we've parted in the last year had under 100k Kilometers and they were trashed. Mileage means nothing.

I bought a M3 outside Houston 3 years ago with 118k for for $5800 off of Ebay. It needed a lot of work but was clear title without accident damage. Just poorly maintained.

Where? In spain? It's been a while since I've seen an M3 sell for $6k that wasn't a stripped shell.

For me and I assume several others on this board....., parting it out and keeping what you want to build your own, or repair another is completely worth it at $4k.

now that is definitely another option.

I was debating whether to fix it a little and turn it around for a profit or fixing it to be a DD for me. Now, i am not sure how good an E30 M3 is for daily driving.

The car from ebay, I talked with the owner that it sat in the garage. Appears the person who bought it from him did nothing to it except make a few buck off of it.

So basically boils down to do you want one and are you willing to spend or do the labor involved to bring it back to par?

You can say blah blah about prices but labor varies by region as do prices of materials and supplies. So are you wanting a M for this price?

I think $4k is fair to start if the motor runs and sounds like it has been maintained.

A much higher mileage M3 (142k) that didn't run, and had more rust than this appears to have went for $8k on ebay recently.

UNHCLL's dad runs a shop that specializes in BMW and classics and he turns wrenches on his own so I think he is not stating to far from the truth.

Maybe the prices are cheaper in Spain. I never thought so though.

The 1500-2000 price idea is if it has a Bad motor and based on it's overall appearance. One good front fender and a bad motor is still a parts car or a race project........................

If the car has been left like this now....... How was it maintained before the collision? Were the valve adjustments done correctly? Water pump........etc. etc...

The question was not what the parts are worth on an M3, it was what is this M3 worth as a whole. You buy low to keep the parts you want and sell the rest to pay for it.
