Negative Power band?

Recently ive been driving my car and noticed something strange... I go into 2nd gear and accelerate fine but then i reach 2k rpm - 4k rpm my car has like a lapse where it just seems to loose power and then after 4k it seems to "hook" back on and regain the power.

What could this be?

Thanks for the responses guys im going to check both of your suggestions, but alphamale i think is right, i just dont know why i didn't think of that before
