Trunk access w no key and dead battery

I am trying to access the trunk of a 1989 325xi which has a completely dead battery and the key does not work in that lock.

Are there anyway to get in there to change out the battery?

Is there a secret release button or something?

    The car has a ski-pass...

    Battery is toast.

    Thanks

jumper cables to the power distribution block under the hood should give enough juice to pop the locks.

Ok, will try again. We tried a jump pack but it did not work.

that jump pack did not have enough juice then, you should be able to start the car without the battery with the proper jumper

          +1

although I thought that was a mechanical locking system - didn't know you needed power for that - I feel dumb now

Did you try the passenger door lock? This happened to me once. Trunk lock did nothing (dead battery). I didn't want to use the driver lock b/c it's stiff and will bend the key. The passenger lock worked on ALL locks with no battery power needed. Maybe I got lucky, don't know.

The owner just found the key that accesses the trunk. :)

done this as well - I usually use the passenger side to unlock everything

I once got into my trunk with no keys using a cig lighter booster pack...it gave me just enough juice to power accessories including my power locks.
