The Official: What have you painted thread.

Thought it would be cool to see what sorts of things you guys have painted yourselves..
ie, bodykits, lip spoilers, wheels, entire cars, what ever you got!

Did it turn out the way you hoped?
    Would you do it again?
What kind of gear did you use? Rattle cans, compressor, paint brush? lol

    I'll start;

I painted my old bottle caps and one of my mirrors as a test.
The wheels came out prety nice.. not perfect though.
    All rattle can work.

All rattle can work. The mirror was a success, but When I wet sanded the Orange peal off the mirror (up to 1200grit) I got horrible swirls I couldn't buff out.. (it looks worse in real life)

I also recently painted my simmons wheels. They came out prety good but I'm worried how long it will last. (Rattle can job as well...)

I need to paint my mtech-1 kit soon, and I think I'll prep/primer it myself then send it off to be painted and polished proffessionally. i just don't have the equipment/knoledge to get the finish I want.

I dont really have any pics but I have pained all kinds of shit, form lawn mowers to cars with a bucket of orange paint and old mop we found in the corner. Wheels, spoilers, houses, barns, guns, Heavy equipment, haul and plow trucks, all kinds of shit.

Granted not much of that mattered on the final product like on my car, I leave the base and clear to my buddy thats been painting cars for a living for 25 years for that kinda stuff.

I've painted my windscreen wipers and front bumper trim on my e30... thats about it.

Here's the result on one of the bumpers, not 100% but I'm satisfied.

I'm thinking about painting my rubber spoiler, do you need some special spray or would a spray for plastics work good on it??

I painted the bumpers and side skirts with paint from some company that sells factory colors. I forget the name, but I know it wasn't paint scratch. I bought it in spray cans and also got some clear from autozone. Came out nicely. I don't know if I would do it again.

Jeez this is a long list
                      First see a write up:

Rear bumper/rear metal on this car.

This is the engine bay of my 2002 I painted last year. Need to start working on this project again.

I have a lot, LOT more. But little time.

I hate to go off topic but maybe I could get some PM's on the subject? I picked my car up in decent shape, some dents and scratches and the paint is "ok".... But I'd love to attempt a whole color change or something myself and have it look not too shabby. Anyone can PM me links / info and I'd be appreciative.

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!
