Price seems to be a little high, but maybe not if he just got it worked on and has new brakes. Take it for a test drive and see how it is

Price isn't high at all, it's perfectly fair actually. Just take it for a drive, make sure the top isn't leaking, get a PPI, and see if it's the real deal.

      Best of luck.

KBB says excellent condition is $2950. I have no problem paying $3000 for it, but it would be a 4th vehicle for us, weekend driver/fun car/whatever, so I can be picky, right?

KBB Does not apply to BMWs. I had some schmuck email me an offer of $1200 for my car, with that same justification.

I think the price is right on. It isnt much of a deal but from the little pick, it looks like a nice find...and a 5spd. Score!

I would rephrase that. KBB doesnt apply to any car taht have a enthusiast following. Anything in actual demand that is a classic car, will be desired and KBB doesnt define it.

I have two cabs and currently still own my first cab. The price is right and it is even a good price if. hence hte things to check.

1.) look at hte seals for the convertible top, around the edges as well as the back window gasket that runs up. The gasket on the windows seals. The gasket for the rear top cover. etc.
2.) convertible top condition? rips? cuts? etc.
3.) interior? is it busted up? is it ripped up?
4.) other mods such as suspension are big ticekt items to make it worth while.
5.) rear plastic window, is it busted up and fading?
6.) misc cabrio plastic pieces, are they missing? esp near the top storage compartment.

but most importantly with cabrios is the seals. you can easily run up a grand just on seals if most of them are damaged or cracked or missing.

Fair price if everything is sorted.

Never pay attention to KBB prices, at least not with e30s. It's not really a reputable source for pricing.

$3800 isn't a bad deal if everything in the ad is true and the car is as clean as the pictures make it look - that color (lagunengrun/lagoon green) is kind of uncommon too.

....and you like that color? Seems high to me, but we get a few to pick from in Dallas.

I drove it about an hour ago and I'll pass. Mechanically, it's sound, but missing trim pieces inside and outside, top hydraulics don't work, some dings on the hood and the trunk lid. Definitely, not a $3900 car, more like $2500 on a good day. Back to the craigslist I go.

If I were you and I liked the car (but for less $) I'd make him an offer. Can't hurt.

Trim pieces can be bought for pennies at a scrap yard and dings can be easily fixed.
If there is no rust and the engine runs smooth, I'd say it's worth it.
